What are the benefits of having a skin care program?
Within the first few weeks of beginning your new skin program you will see; skin clarity, even skin tone, uniform color, and better texture. In many cases it eliminates the need for cosmetic foundation. And even as preventive medicine, a skin program may help reduce pre-cancerous lesions and stimulate the development of healthier skin.
Who can benefit from a skin care program?
Whether your skin is environmentally damaged, discolored, acne prone or hypersensitive...a special program will be designed for your specific skin condition.
How do I get started on a skin care program?
First you should have a skin consultation to determine your particular skin type. Your consult will determine if you have one of the following skin types:
- Environmentally Damaged
- Hypersensitive
- Active Acne
- Hyperpigmetned
- Acne Prone
- Sun Exposed
What is a micro peel?
The micro peel is a three-step process that removes a micro-thin layer of skin. This top layer is a significant obstruction to having better skin because it is pore-clogged. The procedure is safe, effective and is accomplished in approximately 30 minutes.
Step One: The first step is a, physical (dermaplaning) or enzymatic exfoliation of the skin. This frees the skin of dead cellular layers and protein. By reducing the top layer of skin, it also lessens the appearance of fine lines and brown spots. A change in skin texture can be felt right away by brushing your hand across your cheek.
Step Two: In the second step, an acid solution is applied. A slight stinging sensation may be felt, but it is only momentary and quite normal. This part of the peel helps reduce acne related conditions by freeing impacted debris from the pores.
Step three: The third and final step of the peel is a skin freezing process called Cryogenic Therapy. Carbon dioxide is applied to the face in light, circular motions. Immediately the coolness causes an anti-inflammatory response. Pores look smaller. Sun damaged cells are cast off. Oil and blackheads are unblocked. The surface of the skin becomes smoother.
How often will I need to have a peel?
Similar to a facial, we recommend a monthly treatment. Depending on your skin type, however treatments two times per months may produce a more dramatic result.
How will I look after the treatment?
Unlike a facial, most people will notice a change in the skin right away. You can apply your makeup immediately following the procedure.
Can this type of treatment be bad for my skin?
If you are pregnant, lactating, taking Acutane or have an active cold sore, we do not recommend this treatment. You should also be aware that since any exfoliation increases photosensitivity to the sun you must use sun protection.
How does the loss of a layer of dead cells improve the appearance of the skin?
A thick layer of dead cells on the surface of the skin gives the complexion a rough, dull appearance. When these cells are removed they expose a layer of fresh new cells. This layer has a smoother texture and a more uniform look.
What is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid?
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) are natural substances often referred to as fruit acids because they are found in a variety of fruit and foods. For the past two decades, scientists have explored the cosmetic benefits of AHA's and found them to be effective in improving the skin's appearance and texture.
What can I do at home between facials?
To achieve the maximum benefits of your skin rejuvenation program you will follow a simple daily skin care regimen that utilizes glycolic acid at home. You should use a cleanser and a hydrating cream selected for your specific skin type. Products are selected for each individual depending on there unique needs.
