How long is a collagen treatment?
All treatment sessions take 60 minutes, 30 minutes to numb the area with a topical anesthetic and 30 minutes for the actual treatment.
Is collagen a one-time procedure?
No, most patients come for a "touch up" twice a year.
Will I see immediate results?
Patients experience immediate, visible results. Treatment with Zyderm or Zyplast implants is an easy and effective way to smooth lines, wrinkles, scars, and to define the lip border. An immediate, visible difference in the patient's appearance may be achieved in one treatment session.
Where can I get collagen injected?
Zyderm and Zyplast implants are indicated for the correction of contour deformities of the dermis in non-weight bearing areas. These implants have been employed successfully in many areas of the body to correct distensible acne scars; atrophy from disease or trauma; glabellar frown lines; nasolabial folds; rhinoplasty, skin graft or other surgically induced irregularities; and other soft tissue defects.
How do I know if I'm a candidate for collagen?
Four weeks prior to the procedure, Collagen Test Implant is administered intradermally into the forearm to determine if a patient has sensitivity to the implants. Ninety-seven percent (97%) of men and women tested can be treated with Zyderm and Zyplast implants.
Why should I get collagen?
Most people get collagen because wrinkles have formed in areas that are pleasing to the eye. Collagen fills in the wrinkle.
What is the treatment like?
If a patient is eligible to receive treatment, Zyderm and Zyplast implants are implanted intradermally through a fine gauge needle into the appropriate facial planes needed for correction. Treatment with Zyderm and Zyplast implants consists of a simple in-office procedure that can be completed quickly and conveniently, even during a lunch hour. Most patients return to their normal routine immediately following the procedure.
